A good run

She did well...and that's not considering her background. Isis, the transgender woman on America's Next Top Model made it all the way to the top 10...but was booted tonight after the photo shoot.

She had some really good strengths. She could walk the walk and she had the sass, but at times, she just lacked a bit of confidence...but a lot of that was what most transgender women deal with...and in this case, she was dealing with it in front of the TV audience.

I bet if they hadn't been in the water, she wouldn't have been booted. You see, they had the models in the water wearing skin colored swim suits while only shooting their eyes above the water. Isis just had trouble any time they put her in a swim suit because she was afraid "things" would pop out.

I can totally relate to a lot of the issues she was probably dealing with...on the transgender side, but not with the various issues of competing against a lot of very pretty women. I couldn't actually imagine having to deal with that.

She should be very proud of how far she made it and how much she was hopefully able to educate those that watch the show.

Quite honestly I think the only reason she made it on to the show was as a ratings gimmick. If she had been a GG she wouldn't have even been picked. Isis simply wasn't pretty enough and I don't think she was ever intended as a serious contender by the producers or the judges.
That may sound harsh but some of the girls criticisms of her body shape,in the context of what the show is about, were accurate.
That's not an insult against her, rather for this type of competition she simply wasn't pretty enough.
Beyond that, to me her eyes always looked dead in her pictures, while I could always detect some emotion in the other girls pictures.

I didn't watch but I have seen pics of her and I just want to know how she got so damn skinny? That's a hard thing to do for a TS. Also, I agree with anonymous, it was a gimmick.

She was as short or shorter as the other girls so I think part of her ability to stay that thin could be genetic. I do think a little weight would have rounded her out a bit more.

I don't know if it was a complete ratings gimmick or not. I would call it 'casting'. Every girl on there was chosen for a reason...diversity...conflict...39 flavors of delicious goodness. If you had all 16 flavors of vanilla...it would be, well, vanilla. They want it turbulent. That's just the way it is.

And if you look at the pictures Isis was in the original time, you'll see why she stood out. Isis doesn't have the beauty queen looks, but she does have a look that worked well with the frame of reference used with her initial photo shoot. She has an urban rough look, because she still has those little male features in her face.

Overall, even if they used Isis as a gimmick, they picked a good person to fill the LGBT gap on TV. Isis did well. She was honest, and she gave the rest of the world the view of a real person going through this.
